It frustrates me so much that I have to disable comments on some of my posts here as well as in my other blogs. Why? Because those stupid bots keeps on putting links and other unnecessary comments on them. With almost all blogs comments today being moderated, do they really believe that they would get published?

I really wish I could learn how to operate those spam blockers, so that I wouldn’t have to manually tag these bot comments as scam… err, spam. I just don’t understand why do they have to be such a nuisance! And they are so persistent! They surely know how to irritate a blogger.

Oh! And I’m not only referring to bots! I’m sure every blogger have received a comment like “Nice post”, “I love these”, “Good work” and other such comments which are obviously placed so that the commenter could leave his or her link. I mean, is that a valid comment? Unless you personally know the blogger, I honestly believe that’s not a good comment. I wonder if they even read the commented post at all.

Every blogger loves a comment, that’s a fact. It is the most obvious proof that our blogs have been visited and that we are actually being read. And they make our blogging experience more satisfying. No matter if it weren’t a positive comment, the fact that somebody took the time to read our post and exerted effort to comment on it is good enough for us.

But as far as these spammers, bots and human alike, are concern - they will never get published. Unfortunately, they are part of a blogger’s life.

i hate spammers too. i wish i knew how to spam them back. its really a waste of time to sit there and spam people.

Try using akismet.. that filters out all spam, even the stuff that you think looks like it could be ok. My last comment to be filtered as spam was

“I found your site on technorati and read a few of your other posts. Keep up the good work. I just added your RSS feed to my Google News Reader. Looking forward to reading more from you down the road!”

But the fact it’s showing in my askimnet means exactly the same posted was posted on another website. You need to keep a close eye on your spam.. even closer than your real comments.

funny, i just moderated the exact comment today, together with your comment. I would have just deleted it, thanks to your info, my suspicion was correct. so I tagged it as spam.

    thanks! ;)
