Friends of the The Struggling Blogger who supported me in the Free Domain Hosting Contest... thank you very much to all of you!

PhotobucketI saw it on the television today, Filipino comedian Michael V is the cover on Reader’s Digest September issue. I like Michael V, so does my kids. The guy is really talented. But I was still surprised that he made it to the cover of an international magazine…. Reader’s Digest no less.

Granted that September’s issue is their “5th humor special“, our Kabayan has bested who knows how many number of comedians from how many countries in the selection process. Only shows that Bitoy have it made. He was recognized in Asia as evidenced by Asian TV Best Actor Awards, which he believed was what qualified him for the cover opportunity.

Shown in the cover as an old man in Barong Tagalog, Bitoy is more popular with the myriad of characters he portrays. From famous political leaders and figures to nameless original characters who are now as popular as the man who portrays them. And his parodies of hit music ala Weird Al are also among his trademark.

He is somewhat like Weird Al and Jim Carrey combined, as he can transform his face and personality to that of an entirely different individual, with a songwriting talent to boot.

Michael V who’s real name is Beethoven del Valle Bunagan, unknown to many started actually as a rapper. Taking cue from Andrew E’s “Humanap Ka Ng Panget“, he made people noticed him by his reply to the song which he called “Maganda Ang Piliin” From being the rapper that he was, he evolved into a comedian singer, to a comedian actor…. to a creative director… and soon an international star?

Hopefully this, international exposure would really land him an international opportunity cause I do believe that if we would be compared to international comedians, he would be able to stand on his own. Locally, he has two top rating shows, Bubble Gang, the longest running gag show in the Philippines now, where he is one of the creative director, and Yari Ka! a Filipino style practical joke show.

Let’s all give a hand to funnyman Bitoy, September’s Reader’s Digest cover… a Filipino.

gusto ko rin sya… hindi kasi bastos ang mga jokes nya.

  2. Kulas says:

Tama, just plain humor, may mga comedians kasi na nahihirapan nang gumawa ng joke na hindi green. Si Bitoy matatag pa rin :D

I really admire this guy. Famous yet humble. Self-made millionaire but not extravagant. Truly one of a kind. God Bless, Bitoy - he deserves all of the accomplishments. :)
