Men should act like real men?

I’m talking about how nonsensical TV commercials can be. Yes, you guessed it right. This is another take on today’s advertisements being flashed on our television as we watch.
I am actually gathering materials for my second installment of Commercial Muna, but this particular one made me think and decide, it can be posted by itself. It doesn’t need any accompanying subjects as it’s a topic on its own.
I’m talking about the latest commercial of a beer, you know the one where a giant bottle of the said beer ‘falls upon the man’ who doesn’t know how ‘real men’ act. Really now, how should real men act?
One shows a guy who chooses a light color for a girl, seems sissy enough for his companions. And another one where a man talks to his girlfriend on the cell phone telling her how much he misses her.
Bang! In both instances, a giant bottle of ‘real men’s’ beer fall on this two guys because they do not know how to act like real men.
How should real men act then? Should they be barbaric and wild with nary a hint of softness on their person? Should they be insensitive and senseless, a narrow-minded individual who should throw his weight around and impose his will on anybody?
What kind of real man is this commercial trying to promote?
By that logic, maybe I can say that the guy who poke his gun at another man because of an argument for a single parking slot is a real man. And so is the man is who is willing to shot another at the slightest provocation at a traffic altercation.
And maybe, we can add to that the guy who kidnap and rapes every woman that he takes a liking of, because he is as barbaric and wild as what a real man should be.
Think.

There is a disturbing trend in television media that definitely tries to pin men into a particular stereotype which is neither attractive or necessary. another boo on media.
Personally, these ads should be banned , It is giving the young wrong concepts that to be a man, one must drink. and the government is a silent witness to this brainwashing that these ads do to kids. Even women take part willingly in alcohol and cigarette ads.
@vfosdal, indeed these advertisements totally corrupts the values of our society through their wrong stereotyping
@Jena Isle, sabi ko nga dun sa “Commercial Muna” some people are sleeping on their job.
So you’ve also notice this new commercial. The first time I saw it, i know it is very wrong in the first place. I could not imagine if we guys are all like what is portrayed here.
hi B!
Which made me think my being sweet is an insult to my manhood, err, masculinity.
That’s not areal man what are they trying to impose in the commercial, A real man knows to appreciate everything including women. I miss my blog the server on my site is down again and it is not yet fixed it is so frustrating. Take care!
I personally don’t like the commercial as I like my ‘man’ honest, sincere at compassionate.
Now my question: So what if he is not too masculine?
Well, what important to me is that he can accept mistakes and tries to correct it in his own little ways… He’s doesn’t lie and makes her woman cry…And most specially, he gives me an assurance that everything will be alright! (Hubby ko yan, recently ganya siya!) heheehe… ^_^
Roy,
It’s sheer stupidity to impress on other people the difference in sex roles these days.
