Taking the cue from PinoyAmbisyoso, I am also posting herewith my goals and plans for 2009. And this time, I would like to follow the rules when it comes to setting goals - REALISTIC and SPECIFIC and with that comes a TIME FRAME.
I will post here two sets of goals, first for the month of January 2009 and the second group, for the whole 2009. I may not necessarily post another set for February next month, although I may post updates from time to time.
So here are my goals and plans for January 2009
1) Compose one song - surprised this is the first one on the list? The last time I wrote a song was in 2007. Although none of my songs have ever been recorded commercially
2) Write 3 poems - I am after all a self-proclaimed poet
3) Finish one Papier Tole project - another passion of mine
4) Create, upload and develop the dot com version of The Struggling Blogger - need I say more?
5) Go back to making and selling Chocolate Lollipops and Personalized Chocolate Bars - I need to make a living somehow
6) Reactivate my entrepreneurial career - and this time I shall pursue it until I become successful.
7) Earn P20,000 online this month - this may be small for ‘real’ online earners. But this is all I need to survive January. My DSL plan is not yet included in this amount however.
8 ) Work on the documents for my Canadian invasion… err, Canadian migration - my sister has been egging me to complete my documents. I need to do this for Angel. Besides, it’s hard to be 40 and overqualified in our country.
9) Limit my internet time to 8 hours per day - this won’t be hard to do once my delinquent DSL account caught up with me
10) Prohibit myself from creating another blog this month
For the whole of 2009, here’s my list
1) Fill-up my 4th REFLECTIONS notebook - yes, I already have 3 notebooks filled with my poems since my college days. I want to fill up my fourth notebook this year.
2) Buy a guitar before Edgar Allan’s 14th birthday (March 29) - why Edgar? Because, among my kids, he is the one who plays the guitar and he plays better (much better) than me.
3) Play 100 chess games with Ralph Emerson - and I won’t mind if I lost in all that 100 games. I should be the one training and encouraging my son in his passion.
4) Go out with each of my kids at least once within the first 6 months of the year - admittedly, Angel already has a big head start in this department.
5) Send songs to at least 3 recording companies - and hopefully, this time I might get a response.
6) Pass my first speaking engagement with flying colors - can you believe it? I was asked to deliver a talk in our community because they thought I was inspiring.
7) Find out what makes me a great writer - and make it a reality. I am claiming this one. (you can lower your eyebrows now)
8 ) Establish a commercial website for Roysville - a support for my entrepreneurial quest.
9) Get a blog/blogger recognition/award this year - not just a meme or tag, but a real award and/or recognition in the real world. Not necessarily a TV exposure… just a good-to-honest recognition. A proof that I am indeed a blogger.
10) Start working on the publication of my REFLECTIONS BOOK. - it is still my dream to publish a book of my poems which I collectively called REFLECTIONS.
If you noticed, most of my goals and plans are more on the offline/real world. I have noticed that I have spent most of my time in front of the computer monitor. An exposure that didn’t necessarily translates to more earnings and productive blog posts. (and became luckier in contests too
)
I need to establish myself in the real world too. Besides, during the last few days of 2008, I spent less time on the internet and more on the physical plane. That’s when I was able to post more on my blogs.
So for 2009, without really totally abandoning the internet, I need to be realistic for the sake of my kids. I will continue blogging, yet at the same establish myself too in the real world.
These are my goals and plans for 2009.
So help me God.
