Presidential medal of merit for the Master Rapper

This posthumous award is given to the Master Rapper for promoting nationalism through his songs.
“The medal recognizes the nationalism and love of country that is there in all his performances,” Press Secretary Cerge Remonde told ABS-CBN News as reported on their site where I saw this latest update on Francis M.
Indeed, his songs has awakened the spirit of nationalism in today’s youth. Songs like “Mga Kababayan” “Ito Ang Gusto Ko” and “Man from Manila” are just some nationalistic songs which became the national anthem of a lot of young people then… and in the generations to come.
If you noticed, I never used the word ‘late’ in reference to The Man, because I believe… his legacy is just starting…

Hi Roy,
Why do we often award those who are dead? We should have given his award while he was still alive, so he could have appreciated it ..don’t you think so?
Keep posting.
that is the sad and unfortunate truth Jena. in fact, this could even be interpreted that ’somebody’ might just riding on the hype brought about the Master Rapper’s demise.
but of course, it goes without saying that, Francis M do deserve such an award.
like I said at the start of my post…”it’s late… but it’s a much deserved award”
I do hope that next time, they recognized contributions when the artists are still alive to accept the award.
si dolphy kaya may award na? hehehe tanong lang haaa…
Awarding dead people are appreciated but I believe Francis could have appreciate it more if this was given when he was alive. Francis Magalona has been patriotic eversince from the 90s up to the day he died.
Ang bagal talaga ng gobyerno…
that’s true Snow. sabi ko nga sa itaas, it could just a ploy of ’somebody’ to ride on the hype of the Master Rapper’s tragic demise.
But even with such ‘agenda’ Francis really deserve the award, and I must agree with you. Francis would be happier if this is given when he was still here.
[...] than giving him the presidential medal of merits, I’m sure he would appreciate it better if they would listen to him and practice what he [...]
@terry: I smiled at the implication of you bringing up the name of Dolphy.
Is he - no, let’s perish the thought. But the thing is - if Dolphy is not yet a recipient of this President Merit Award, I think it’s about time this be given to him Dolphy so richly deserve it, too.
and if I may add Jan, it will be a perfect time too as he is ’still here’ to personally receive tha award
Very well said Kuya Roy - mas maganda talaga buhay pa binibigyang pugay mas masarap ang pakiramdam..eh ang patay, may feelings pa ba yun? hayyy…
