The Struggling Blogger as a Poet

I am, after all, a frustrated writer and a self-proclaimed poet, before I was a blogger
The weekly WOOF Writing Contest is one of those I am joining on a regular basis. For last week’s edition of the contest, I submitted a poem for wife and an article about words and phrases that got me thinking.
My poem was fortunate enough to be included in the top picks, which was chosen by the participants themselves. The article however, wasn’t as lucky.
One of the nominees in my Top 10 List, is included in the top picks too — Zorlone. You’ll find his name and links to his entries below, which shows why he is included in my list.
Here’s the complete list of winners, and other entries submitted as well.
Poetry
Webbielady – “If I Am God…” - What if I’m given the seat as the God of this universe just for a few hours or a day or a couple of days? A crazy though, a weird poem came out of it…
Jena Isle – “Poems of Adieu and Hello” - What would be more indelible in one’s memory, is it saying adieu or hello?
Albert Ashok – “Concerning my land” - Concerning my land- is a concern for my country and the well-being of all concerned with my country.
Dragon Blogger – “A Mother’s Love” - A tribute to Mother’s everywhere.
Roy – “Don’t Ask Me Why” - A poem I wrote for my wife in 1999.
Christable Anon – “The Third Day of May” - How would you address your pain to some deaf wounds?
Zorlone – “Simply A Mother” - The joys of motherhood cannot be expressed in a single poem. But this one tries to have a glimpse of the beauty of such a devoted and unselfish love.
Jennifer M Scott – “Birthday” - 2 months to the day is my birthday and I will be 29 I guess getting older is bothering me some since it seems like I am writing a lot about getting older and losing childhood completely.

Wow, sir Roy ang galing nyo pala. Oh mama…you are a writer before naging blogger? hahaha. I hope you will not be scandalized sa mga pinagsusulat ko doon…lalo na grammar at correct usage. hahaha! The truth is I am not a writer at all. In fact there was a time na i was trying to bribe a writer to write something for me pero I don’t think that will work either. Kaya sabi ko ah bahala na. NO GUTS NO GLORY. Naintindihan nga ang text messages na walang vowels puro consonant kung may vowels naman talagang you have to decipher the meaning. THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR STORY sir. I will be your avid fan. Thank you again.
Best of luck to all the nominees! I’m sure lahat ng poems nyo ay magaganda.
@darbs

@Snow

Keep on writing. You’re delighting many souls and indeed your mind is a wonderful instrument.
I’m sorry po, I don’t have his number.

Whaaa…. Baka mapatula naman ako nyan. hehehe
Roy,
Thank you for the special endorsement. I feel like I am shaking your hand while having our picture taken for a campaign photo. And why not, you are an influential blogger! Ako ang nakiki ride on lang. hehehe.
Familiar naman tayo sa saying na tell me who your friends are and I’ll tell you mine, este, I’ll tell you who you are pala.
Good luck sa atin.
