If you take a look at my sidebar, you’ll find that I don’t have any blogroll except for the list of my other blogs. As for links to other blogs, you won’t find any.

Quite selfish, isn’t it?

Not really. If you look above, in the list of my pages, you will a page named Blogs I Read, that is where I’m putting my links to other blogs.

But it is not a blogroll per se, as it is not a product of exchange links, but as the name suggest, it is a link to all the blogs I read!

Okay, I hear you, “can you read all of those blogs?!” Hell, no! Of course, I can’t! At least not every blog in one day.

It is a list of blogs that I would love to go back to, blogs where I found something I like, that’s why I added them in the list so I can easily go back to them anytime that I like.

Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs writing project
The reason I pointed them out to you is that, I’ve seen quite a number of entries where they either lack 2 to 5 nominees. You might want to take a look at that list and see if you can find a blog that meets your standard.

Of course, yours truly won’t be included in that list. Just click the ‘Home’ page to get my URL, just in case I’m not yet included in your list. But if it’s already in your list, then you may proceed to the page of my blog list.

Your blog is not on the list?
Don’t take it personally. It doesn’t really mean that I don’t like your blog… although it could be a possibility :)

But seriously though, maybe because I haven’t been to your blog yet or I haven’t been to your blog often enough, or I’m just too lazy to update my list.

The last one is the most probable reason. Hey, I have 13 blogs! I have a right procrastinate at times.

But the list will be updated every now and then, and maybe on your next visit, you’ll see that I was finally able to find the time to include yours in the link.

Just bear with me.

No ex-links
Don’t tell me you’ll add me in your blogroll once I added you in mine. Chances are you won’t do it. 99% it has been proven.

If I find something I like in your blog. I’ll add you on the list even if you don’t put me in yours.

This is not an original idea, by the way. I learned it from friends who have generously given me back links even without telling me. I will just find out once I get to visit their blogs.

And I find it more sincere, that is why I have adopted it.

Don’t worry, I’m easy to please, especially if there’s humor in your blog ;)

    You always read my blog and my posts sa barrio siete dot com. hahaha…

    Nice to hear na poet din pala ang struggling blogger roy! Go Roy!

  2. Jena Isle says:

    hey Roy,

    I still have to check if I’m included in your list. if not then, you’re missing out on something…he he he…kidding.

    I remembered the earlier times when we had “one on ones” in your comments …meaning tayong dalawa lang, kung minsan may pangatlo, pang-apat.

    But look at you now, not a struggling blogger anymore , but a popular blogger. lol…you should change your blog’s title….but well…it’s good to look back to those times and smile at the memories it brings.

    I also agree that, linking should not be a “tit for tat ” thing. You link because you sincerely want to. We do the same thing, link only when we really read the blog.

    I do hope you’ll win the Emerging Influential Blogs contest. I’m rooting for you!
    Go, go, Struggling….errrr….popular blogger, not struggling anymore…he he he..

    Have a stress-free day!

  3. Snow says:

    You’ve got a good ‘collection’ of blogs there! Thanks din for adding me up. ^_^

  4. caryn says:

    hear, hear! i agree, i list blogs i like to read, not for the sake of xlinks ;-)

  5. jan_geronimo says:

    Cool. In all my visits here, I have not even bothered to check that tab. I don’t even know it exists. Ahahaha.

    We’re so much alike in the matter of putting a blogroll of sorts.

    I never solicit links even from close online buddies. And I’m quite lucky never pester them with those requests either.

    When you’ve linked me in Sugercoatedworld I was very surprised and didn’t know what to do. My blogroll was quite heavy at that point and it’s bugging my readers - the whole page takes lots of time to load. But I did get around to adding you, right? It took me a while though. “,)

    But some people really have talent and skills in requesting for a link. I’ve linked to a few of them. But only after assuring myself I really enjoy reading those blogs.

    Nice. Thanks, Roy.

  6. Roy says:

    @Silver
    kaya naman tignan mo, bago pa ako nag-iingay sa blog mo, nasa list na ang blog mo ;)

    @Jena
    of course I remember that, nung wala pang nagbabasa sa akin kundi si Jena Isle lol

    And I always thought Jena Isle was from another country then, hehe…

    thanks for supporting me always ;)

    @Snow
    siyempre naman, ikaw pa ba ang mawawala diyan ;)

  7. Roy says:

    @caryn
    thanks for dropping by, because I came to know of your blog.

    @Jan
    Did you know that your link was already here even before I started talking in blog? lol

  8. ceblogger says:

    for the blogs i read, i usually subscribe to their feeds and/or bookmark them in my browser. the ones i used to read before are not the ones i read now, although there are 4 or 5 of them remnants of my blogging pasts. but sometimes, i do some revisits of those listed in my blogroll.

  9. Roy says:

    Hi Novz!

    oo nga, minsan talaga papalit-palit tayo ng mga tinatangkilik na blogs, especially when we get to know more blogs.

    but we always check back yung mga dati pa rin nating mga binabasa. that’s why it’s good to have a link to them

  10. Lucrecio Emerito says:

    Tama. May mga dumadaan sa blog ni Dee noon. Ang sinasabi lang is: “Wanna xchange links?”, yun lang.

  11. Roy says:

    Ang daming ganyan Luke, tapos hindi nagbabalik lol

  12. walongbote says:

    At nag ci-circulate ka na talaga Roy. Extrovert ka na ngayon. I’m glad you’ve finally decided to come out of your shell.

  17. DiTesco says:

    “Blogs I read” is an excellent form to show people that you care and actually enjoyed reading some or all of their posts. Blogrolls originally was intended to show your visitors that those blogs are recommended by you. Today, few are those that still are loyal to this concept. Rather they use it for “link exchanges” with the expectation to get “link juice” or rank better on Search Engines. If they only knew that reciprocal links do not count for any of those crap, maybe it will once again be used as originally intended.

    I am not sure if I will ever make your list, my blog being technical and all:) But, I do scour around for friends of Jan Geronimo, as he ranks highly on my list.

  18. Roy says:

    @Jena
    yes, but it’s really taking a big effort on my part, hirap pag hindi natural hehe… so far naman mababait ang mga nakakausap ko, kaya enjoy naman going out :)

    @DiTesco
    Hello buddy! It’s really an honor for me to see you here. Of course you know how Jan speaks highly of you.

    You are right, technical blogs do intimidate me, but it doesn’t I don’t read them. I am learning a lot from them.

    Like I said, if your blog is not here, maybe because I haven’t been often enough in your blog or I am just lazy to update my links lol

    I know you have a great blog Di

    Thanks!

  19. lee says:

  21. Jena isle says:

    Hi Roy,

    Dito meron na rin yata tayong ban. Today, I could not enter all blogspots located locally,it opens and then says “operation aborted” and then closes. I think they’re trying to control the spread of the scandalous video of Katrina and Hayden. He’s a pervert.

    Kindly, subukan mo nga if you could access my blog from your internet. Thanks.

  22. Roy says:

    Hi Jena,

    I checked at na-access ko naman, or baka hindi pa lang ako inabutan

    pati tayo nadamay sa mga kalokohan ng hayden na yan

  23. Bryan Karl says:

    This is my first time here in your blog… Your blog is really fully-loaded. Full-packed!

  24. Roy says:

    thanks for dropping by Bryan!

  25. Badet says:

    Roy, your blog title should be The Influential Blogger not a “struggling” one coz the current title doesn’t suit your writing style. :)

  26. Amor says:

    Tama yung sinabi mo Kuya Roy, bakit kasi yung iba gusto mag pa ex-link pero they would tell you add me first, haller! Kaya nga marami na akong ni-erase na nagpa exlink dati. I also link blogs that I read, kahit di pa nila ako i-link, I won’t mind. At syempre, thanks for adding me up. :)

  27. Roy says:

    @Badet
    kinilig naman ako sa comment mo, hehe… I’m still from there, hehe… thanks! that’s a great morale-booster ;)

    @Amor
    alam mo ba? habang ginagawa ko ito, naalala ko yung post mo bago ka mag-delete ng mga links mo :)

  28. bingkee says:

    Roy, I am elated to see my link in your “blogs I read”. I know you read my blog but I never knew you’d include me in your list. I also read your blog regularly. Thanks so much.

  29. Roy says:

    Yup I included it so I can always find my way ;)

    it’s hard to remember all those URLs lol

  30. Kelvin Servigon says:

    Nice! ganda ng Idea na un ah… page for your loved blogs… :D

  31. irtiza104 says:

    hi,
    i have visited your “Blogs I Read”. i was amazed to see the number of blogs.

    It is very generous that you will not exchange links, rather you will add those who you like reading.

    peace

  32. Roy says:

    most of them are my friends, and I do get to visit them regularly

    while some don’t even know i exist, and that that their blog is listed here :)

  33. Holly Jahangiri says:

    Reciprocal reading and linking are nice, but only if they’re sincere - only if you really want to - and not if you do it out of a sense of obligation (which even a spammer can create in a really compassionate person). Otherwise, it’s not very meaningful and can destroy trust with other readers. I wrote a similar post a while back: The No Reciprocation (Unless You REALLY, REALLY Want to) Clause.

  34. elmot says:

    me too! i never thought there was a tab there about your fav blogs.

    i agree, exchange links are nasty when one does not know how to earn it first. you have to give first, coz usually they are just like fly-by-night bloggers, who ask for links then erase them after a month or so…
