Photobucket Blog de Manila Random Thoughts Womenagerie Tech Talk Tasha's Take Small Town Mountain Boy

This is a follow-up to my original post about Fatherlyours and his web host, WebPinas. So far here’s what we have:

WebPinas is owned by Kenneth Estanislao (name given by one of his clients in the comment section in the original post). He is hacksider in Twitter and Mon is one of his followers, and I believe some of his clients are his followers too.

He is a member of Sulit.com, where we got his details (phone number and address), and also in TipidPC, where he seemed to be an active one with a good reputation.

He is also connected with Photosource, an offshore web development and outsourcing company.

I have already forwarded his address to Mon, and some of his clients know his landline too.

I have not written the original post (nor this follow-up) to initiate a nationwide manhunt for Kenneth. In fact, what really necessitates this follow-up post is to request everyone to please…

Don’t call it a scam
I urge everyone, please, let’s not paint a picture of Kenneth as a criminal. Doing so might just alienate him and might make our blogger friends’ chances of getting their blogs remote.

Let us give him the benefit of the doubt.

For a backgrounder, Mon said Fatherlyours started in 2007 and he didn’t have any problem — until May of this year. This we could interpret as WebPinas doing a legitimate business, and he might just have some business problems as of late.

The details presented here are posted just to show that there is a ‘real’ person behind WebPinas who was having a good business relationship with his client, until what happened has happened.

Again, I have written this post to seek help on how could reach to Kenneth (or his representative) faster, and for technical people to help Mon and the others on how to get a back-up of their blogs.

Other bloggers who lost their blogs
Aside from Mon, there are only two others who have commented so far who were also hosted by Webpinas. They are Bing and a certain RC who hasn’t given any link, maybe because he doesn’t have another blog.

As my suggestion to Mon, I hope these guys can group themselves and reach Kenneth as a team. Maybe they could reach to him faster, and he might respond to them.

An appeal to Kenneth
I would like to believe that you are having some problems at present (business, personal or whatever), but I hope you understand how it feels for a blogger who have lost his blog. I hope you understand the efforts that a blogger put up just to write a post in his blog.

PLEASE respond to them. They really don’t need anything else, they just want to get a back-up of their blogs and access to their domain name as well, so they can transer it to another host and free of any liability.

Come clean Kenneth. There’s still chance.

Suggestion
Ceblogger has a very good suggestion on how Mon can reconstruct his blog, he said “maybe those subscribed to his blog can at least give him pieces to reconstruct his site.”

So I a call on to anyone who have a copy of his post, maybe you can give us a shoutout here so Mon can give his e-mail to you. His last back-up was December 2008. So he only needs copies from December to May.

Lessons learned
Obviously, as what most of the comments have stated - backup, backup, backup! (Note to self: Backup after making this post) You can never be too sure.

But Jaypee has an interesting note, he said, “Another thing is the issue of having both domain and web hosting from the same company. Its better and safer to have your domain name registered with a large and reputable company maybe like GoDaddy and have your hosting somewhere else. So in case something happens to your hosting, you can move your blog anytime given that you have a backup of your files and database.”

A good point. Thanks Jaypee.

What happened in the kitchen
Just so everyone would know. There are some comments that were not approved, those were the comments with an ‘I told you so!’ and ’serves you right!’ approach. And they are not really helping.

So there’s my update, my appeal - to Kenneth and to everyone else.

P.S. Mon, et al. if you have any developments, a response from Kenneth or anything, please let us know. Thanks.

    I hope that this will work out right. The suggestion of ceblogger is a good one. And yes, contacting the owner as a group might have a higher chance of success.

    Hey Roy,

    I didn’t know you have the knack of organizing such a campaign…What about campaigning for our non-violence in children’s TV programs? lol…

    You really know how to push this through. Kudos to you.

  3. Roy says:

    @Luke
    I really hope something positive would come out of this

    @Jena
    Honestly, at this point, writing about it is the best I can do, with me being here in the Angeles City. I am really somebody would be able to pick-up where I left off.

    My bad! How can I forget our advocacy?!

    I’m on it Jena! Will try to come up with something

    Wow, you’ve done a marvelous job tracking this guy. All we need is to get the word out so this message gets to Kenneth Estanislao.

    Backing up. Now, that’s one very important point. I don’t have one. Not once did I bother. Uh - oh. Doing something about that now, this minute. “,)

    Hi! Roy. Thanks for this very accurate post. As of now no news or response from Kenneth. I have learned a very painful lesson about blogging.I hope other people too! I am just hoping that one day, when I wake up, the site is up and running. I think Bing and RC are trying to re construct their site. This is life. not everything goes the way we want it. Move on na! hehehe.

  6. RC says:

    Yeh, your right, Im trying to reconstruct or build a new site. I seek for another designer,

    Now Im hopeless, Me, being so busy these days. And im based here in province.

    To Mon, i will always visit this blog section, for an update. On what really happened. Thank you! More power on your other blogs.

  7. Roy says:

    @Jan
    didn’t really track him, the data were actually ‘dropped’ in the comments ;)

    @Sir Mon
    yes, I see you actively updating your pmonchet blog. but I felt the need to make a follow-up post just to update those who were concern too.

    personally, nanghihinayang talaga ako sa Fatherlyours

    @RC
    thanks for following this post. We really hope that something would come out of this, or at least webpinas would give us a reply

    I hope this will be resolved and that Kenneth would somehow make it up. I think the lesson we should get from this is to research the credibility and reliability of the webhost before registering on it. I spent a certain amount of time to choose my platform and my domain name host because I know I’m the kind of person who cannot tolerate this kind of service—if these commercial entities want to stay in business.

    Oh my, I thought I lost my blog couple days ago. All my post went kaput. Good thing my webhost provider was able to retrieve it dunno what she did. But I agree with you on the back-up thing. I need to do it with my blog to. How dunno. Somebody elp?

    I hope Webpinas will respond and at least just do something so fatherblogger can get all his post back.

    Roy- A friend of mine would ask a few businessman he knew in Marikina about Kenneth and as far as he knows, there’s a lot of Estanislao in Marikina. He is asking (to bing) if we could provide the name of the parents of kenneth so that it would make thier search faster.Also, if it is Minahan st or really Manahan st?

  11. Snow says:

    @Kuya Mon
    Oo hanapin dapat parents niyan para paluin nila yang anak nila. *lol*

    Off topic - can someone check why all my blogs are in ‘bold fonts’. I am not very techie so I am wondering what happened. Pagbukas ko ng blogsite ko ganun na. Pero kapag tinignan ko naman sa admin site ko..ok naman….Hmmm, i am really wondering what’s happening in my blog. This the 2nd time, yung una last november 2008 pa…Hay, sana magawa…
