My Sala SetYes. The picture that you see is the Sala Set that I have tweeted just a few days ago (that is if you follow me on Twitter).

While most bloggers would pose with their new laptops, cell phone and other techie gadgets, I opted to put a picture of a sala set.

This, my friends, is my FIRST tangible proof of HARD blogging labor. Nothing against gadgets and all, would love to have those too. Maybe it’s just a matter of priorities. At least now, our house looks like a home.

Not really out to brag (though I would understand if you think I am, because maybe I am), but just happy to share that I am DOING SOMETHING RIGHT. I am not trying to mislead anybody into thinking that there’s fortune here, I’d like to reiterate… it’s a fruit of HARD LABOR.

I have been blogging for more than two years now, and it’s only now that I have something to show for my work.

I am very much tempted to write a post and tell everybody how to make lots of money through blogging. Unfortunately, I can’t. I really don’t know how, because I’m still trying to find the formula myself.

All I know is that, it’s not an overnight thing and that one must really have the heart for it.

The gift of a laugh time

Last night, as I was about to sleep, I received a text message that said I have been given P300 worth cell phone load. I just need to dial 223 and enter the card number and PIN when prompted.

Since I was really sleepy, I didn’t mind it and went straight to sleep.

This morning, I read a text from my friend Jan asking me if I have received the P300 credits he sent me. Apparently, it came from him as my prize for being the third among his top commentators for June.

Imagine that! I received a prize, and all I did was tell him ‘knock-knock jokes!’ Okay, not all of them, some were ‘used in a sentence.’

Seriously, I never really thought I would land in any blogger’s top commentators list.

Thank you Jan! My two sons send their gratitude too.

The intangibles

The rewards of blogging are not always tangible, there are more intangibles actually, and they surely make blogging worthwhile.

First, I need the mention this – is the ongoing Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs for 2009 by Janette Toral. Being consistently included in the weekly summary, makes me think, I could actually win! :)

At any rate, the euphoria that this recognition brings is really priceless and I am savoring every moment of it while I can.

But that recognition could be short lived. Once the contest is over and winners are announced, it’s back to being a solitary blogger.

Not if you have blogging buddies.

I am proud to say that I have been included in an elite list of blogging buddies called the Jedi Knights and Lady Warriors, and with their ready support, blogging is indeed a worthwhile experience.

Hays, buti ka pa Roy. May fruits na ang iyong blogging tree. Ako pulos eyebags. Pero I am not complaining. I know very well the amount of hard work and patience na dinidemand ng blogging. Ako pa e I read the best in blogging. May friend pa akong di nagbebenta ng ilusyones at false dreams in blogging. That’s you, Roy.

Wala pa akong material things. Pero what do I need it for e I feel I already own the galaxy with my uber Jedi blogger friends and lady warriors. O di ba?

Pero project ko talaga laptop. I’m blogging sa secondhand desktop. Anytime, puedeng sumakabilang buhay na ito - wag sana muna, maawa ka! ahahaha. I’m giving up Kindle2. Saka na lang - first thing first muna.

@Fedhz: From shampoo to shoes? Wow, di ka na ma-reach. Buti ka pa, Fedhz. “,)

  10. Jena Isle says:

    Hi Roy,

I agree with you that there is a more priceless gift from blogging - and that is , good and loyal online friends.

Jan, I don’t know why I say this to you in Roy’s blog, but my initial impression of you was that you were an individual who just did it because you’ll gain something from it; but now, I know better. You’re really a person with a heart of gold and I admire your sincere and heartfelt friendship. Ano ba ito, sana email na lang kita. he he he…Perhaps I want Roy to be a witness because I know he feels the same way too. Now, there’s a lump in my throat, I’m growing maudlin…lol…Okay, okay, enough.

Roy, congrats on your sala set, sana makabili rin me ng something from my blogging money. All I do with it is eat and eat…sa pagkain ko ginagastos ang kita ko…kaya lalong tumataba.

Tamang tama ang suggestion ni Doc Z, pizza is on me, and burger of course.Tara na sa sala ninyo.

    Jan, lipad ka na dito.

  11. Jena Isle says:
