Last January, I laid out my goals and plans for this year. Yes, they seem to be quite realistic at the time. But as it turned out, most were not realized - in the time frame they were supposed to be at least.

So here I am, trying to revisit these goals and what have become of them so far.

I was supposed to do this “revisiting my goals” thing at the half of the year, except that I have waited for some developments and see if they can add sanity to the goals I set when I was still starry-eyed.

Because one of those goals was for me to get a blog/blogging award this year. At the time I wrote that, I really don’t have any idea on how to get that, don’t know of any ‘real’ blog contest, nor if I would even qualify. Fortunately, there was the Emerging Influential Blogs for 2009, as you know, I was fortunate to land a spot. So I got one goal fulfilled, at least I won’t get nil for the year :)

I also said I would buy a guitar for my son Edgar Allan before his 14th birthday on March 29. Unfortunately, I was not able to fulfill that goal - on the time alloted. I, however, made true to my promise come August, together with my fruits of blogging, I was able to buy my son a guitar.

For January, I was supposed to write 3 poems. Unfortunately, January ended with nary a single verse that came from me. But I am back to writing poems now, and I have written almost (not sure) 10 poems for the year, which brings me to another goal…

and that is to fill up my fourth REFLECTIONS notebook. Yes, I am now on my fourth notebook of personal poetry and I’m really glad I’m back to writing poems again.

I was not able to limit my internet time to 8 hours a day, but I have considerably reduced it… I sleep now.

I was not able to send my songs to any recording companies yet, I still don’t know how, nor have the guts to do so.

I was also hoping that this year, I could start to get my REFLECTIONS, my collection of poems be published in a book. Unfortunately, I haven’t done that yet, I don’t even know where to start. HOWEVER, I would still be part of a book publication, as a contributing writer to Jena’s Inspirational Book where I shared three of my personal stories.

Oh, and there were lots of other hits and misses too:
- Compose one song - NOT (but with the guitar around, anytime now)
- Finish one Papier Tole project - NOT (I really wish I could)
- create the dot com version of The Struggling Blogger - DONE
- go back to making chocolate lollipops and bars - NOT (not yet at least, I’m on it)
- reactivate my entreprenurial career - NOT (okay! okay! I’m on it too!)

and then some more… but I don’t want to bore you anymore.

So, I guess I really didn’t do bad, right? Maybe some are not achievable at this time, or I need to focus myself more.

Anyway, the year is not yet over, there is still time to catch up.

How about you, have you achieved anything that you planned for the year?

Those are good goals Roy, and I’m happy I’ve been instrumental in the fulfillemnt of one. The poetry book will come next, don’t worry.

Congratulations for achieving most of them. Way to go.

Life is like that - a hit and miss. But goals are good things to have.

What is that saying again? If you want God to laugh, tell him your plans? Did I get that right? Ahehehe.

I’m not much of a goal-driven blogger. I grope my way through from day to day. Some days, I feel invincible. Some days, I just wanna read and hide under the rock - if you can call tweeting hiding under the rock. lols

But if you feel like hitting your head with a keyboard, this is not healthy at all, right? Kawawa naman ang keyboard. At saka sayang pati. So I prefer tweeting. Hollering hello to the world. Sometimes, someone answers. Sometimes, many do answer, although of course half of them want you to buy something from them.

But I’d go burrow in my archives and see what kind of nonsense I wrote there. I remembered writing something along this line, too. I just can’t remember the details of it. :)
