No kidding! One of my early ambition in life when I was still a child was to become a lawyer. I don’t know why, maybe because it was fed to my young mind then - “You would make a good lawyer… because you are one smart aleck.” Seriously though, I just like the sound of the title. I didn’t know that there was tax lawyer, corporate attorney, criminal lawyer (hmm… somehow, that doesn’t sound right), prosecutor and more.

Maybe because I just love what I saw in the movies and television shows then. These smart lawyers battle it out in the court, with great command of words, and convincingly twisting… err, I mean proving, their case in point.

I did plan to pursue it though after I graduated from college. To take up law as my second career. Unfortunately, because of responsibilities and a thousand more excuses, I wasn’t able to pursue a childhood ambition.

Now, being 41, I really don’t see it becoming real in the days to come. And that I state, as a matter of fact.

Why don’t you give it a try. On our freshman orientation last year, the oldest UP Law freshman was 54 years old. He wished that he become a lawyer before his retirement.

I could have pursued a masteral degree in engineering or IT, or I could have decided to continue law school. Instead I decided to navigate on risky waters - that is, having the mindset of an entrepreneur, which doesn’t require me to take up further advanced studies and instead, focuses on using the common sense to achieve my goals.

Hi Roy. I share the same view eversince I got into policy lobbying. A lot of people mistaken me for being a lawyer or encouraged me to be one. Although along the way, being involved in policy, while not being a lawyer, has its own merit in that kind of work.

Ok lang if you don’t pursue for as long as those that makes you happy and fulfilled gets accomplished.

    Happy New Year!

yup! there are too many “could have been” in our life… but I know we both agree in saying that we have no regrets with those “could have been” not coming true, and enjoy what we have become ;)

    Happy New Year Gem!
