(Taking a break from daily events, I dig up on my old works and found this one which was written way back 2004. A factual view on TV commercials, I’m planning to have an updated version, but I can’t find the time yet. I hope you still remember them. My apologies to those who may not be able to relate to this, as these are mostly commercials from the Philippines. Thanks)

It’s been ten years since you last saw your high school classmates! Ten LONG years! And tonight you’ll finally get to see them again. Because tonight is your reunion! You’re very excited to see your classmates again after so many years. You went to the reunion, full of expectations. As you enter the place of the party, you saw your former classmates, and as you approached them, even before the hi’s and hello’s, even before the beso-beso and kumustahan, the first thing that they asked you is, “San ka nagparebond? “ What?!!! Honestly, is that the way to greet someone whom you haven’t seen for quite a long time? I think a simple “hi” would suffice.

Much ado about a dog, Obama’s dog. After the US election, and after the smoke has cleared out, the hottest topic now is the search for the Obama’s dog. Because it was said that the then candidate Barack Obama promised his two daughters, Malia, 10 and Sasha, 7 that he will buy them a dog once they moved in to the White House.

An 8-year old Filipina received a letter response from the newly president-elect Obama, because she sent him a letter suggesting what type of dogs to buy.

This search has indeed stirred so much interest that it has created more buzz on the Obama’s website than any other topic.

One of the main concern on the search is that, Malia has allergies. That is why the family is looking for an hypoallergenic dog, which according to doctors does not really exists. Although the American Kennel Club said that there is a good selection of low-allergy dogs. Citing poodle as one example.

I’m not really familiar about dogs and their breeds. But what I’m looking forward to is that, with the buzz it has created, will Obama’s dog exceed the popularity of Scooby-Doo, Richie Rich’s Dollar and Lassie?

It was over, before I was even had time to promote my last blog post. A history was made as Barack Obama became the first black president of the United States of America. This victory only proves that America is the land of the free and equal opportunity. And hopefully, this will eventually lead to the crushing of the invisible wall that separates the colors in that country.

Although early on in the campaign, Obama was already the more favored candidate. The role of an underdog did not work well for John McCain, and not his running mate Palin was able to save his cause. America has spoken, Obama won and McCain, accepting his fate, already called his rival and conceded.

Now, America and rest of the world can move on.

“I appeal to the public to please give him a chance….” This was the appeal of relatives of Claudio Teehankee Jr., the convicted murderer who was given presidential favor… err clemency. Because after all, as they have said before, he has already served 20 years inside the jail.

Fact is, he did serve time, and rightly so because he did a crime. He played god and took the life of another human being. And even if he stayed inside the rest of his life, it won’t bring back the life that he took… an act that he did, because he can.

Maybe in the spirit of forgiving and reconciliation, he might just deserve a second chance… but to paint a scenario that he is also a victim here is an absolute insanity. He did time because he must pay for what he did.

I am not even in the shoes of the victim’s relatives and I am already this outraged, just imagine how they feel. That is why I can’t help but wear a sour grin everytime I hear them say “Please give him a second chance…”

Easy for them to say.

Yes, I believe that everybody does deserve a second chance… but is EVERYBODY really getting a second chance?

DEFINE EVERYBODY.

Yes, The Struggling Blogger will be on Rated K this Sunday, October 12, 2008. Although this blog won’t be featured there, but my other blog will be, which is the Letters To Mama.

I am really surprised as to how they chanced about my blog. Contacted me, and before I knew it, I’m included on their next Sunday’s episode. Rated K is shown every Sunday at ABS-CBN Channel 2, at around 6pm. (am not sure about the exact time).

I was interviewed by Miss Korina Sanchez herself. Just watch it this Sunday. Be sure to have your hanky with you.

I wish I can expound more here, but to be honest I really don’t how it will turn out or how it will be shown. I hope it won’t be something that I am going to regret someday.

So that’s it! This Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Rated K, it’s a date!
