UPDATE: 5/21/2009

LBC has ordered the pull-out of its ‘Spell Remittance Commercial’ upon the order of DepEd Secretary Jesli Lapus.

See the latest update from GMANews TV

I’m sure most Filipinos have seen the LBC commercial where remittance is spelled by a child as L-B-C.

Great marketing. Poor taste.

I wonder why it was even allowed on TV?

Don’t we have censors or any governing body anymore that could have disallowed the showing of this advertisement on TV?

Imagine a child IN A SPELLING CONTEST, spelling a word incorrectly and Edu Manzano says “TUMPAK!”

I’m sure I’m not alone in this kind of reception to this commercial. Just look at their YouTube channel and you’ll see all the comments of people there. Not a single soul appreciated the commercial. It was definitely not a good example for our kids.

Perhaps, LBC expected it. Or maybe it was really their intention, to stir up the people’s emotions. That’s viral marketing for you.

Whether the feedback is good or back, there is definitely brand recall.

Bravo!

At whose expense?

Somebody is definitely sleeping on their job, that’s why the commercial made its way on television.

Some teachers think that they have an absolute authority over our children and that they can do anything they wish… even subjecting them to humiliation!
