UPDATE: 5/21/2009

LBC has ordered the pull-out of its ‘Spell Remittance Commercial’ upon the order of DepEd Secretary Jesli Lapus.

I’m sure most Filipinos have seen the LBC commercial where remittance is spelled by a child as L-B-C.

Great marketing. Poor taste.

I wonder why it was even allowed on TV?

Don’t we have censors or any governing body anymore that could have disallowed the showing of this advertisement on TV?

Imagine a child IN A SPELLING CONTEST, spelling a word incorrectly and Edu Manzano says “TUMPAK!”

I’m sure I’m not alone in this kind of reception to this commercial. Just look at their YouTube channel and you’ll see all the comments of people there. Not a single soul appreciated the commercial. It was definitely not a good example for our kids.

Perhaps, LBC expected it. Or maybe it was really their intention, to stir up the people’s emotions. That’s viral marketing for you.

Whether the feedback is good or back, there is definitely brand recall.

Bravo!

At whose expense?

Somebody is definitely sleeping on their job, that’s why the commercial made its way on television.

The “apology” issued by the Hong Kong writer, if ever such is really an apology, could’ve have been accepted except that he has to add insult by making it appear like we don’t understand the meaning of the word “servant.”

Why is it that some people do things and does not want to be held responsible for their actions? Saying “I’m sorry” with sincerity would suffice… yet, they would destroy that apology by creating alibis that would only aggravate the situation.

I was listening to our local FM radio station last Friday, GV FM 99.1 I was unmindful of the DJ blabbering away his spiels and antics on the air. I was just conscious of the music being played. It was my son who actually turned on the radio, and didn’t turn it off when they left for school.

As I was saying, the radio keeps on playing. However, unmindful as I was to the DJ, my attention was caught by a certain word that the DJ said - ‘Fillies‘, Fillies? What in the world is he talking about?! Then, he repeated the word. I was not hearing things, he did say fillies!

And you know what is he referring to with that word? You wouldn’t believe it.
