Although the recognition came much later, I still believed that the presidential medal of merit is a much deserved award for the Philippines’ King of Rap Francis Magalona. This posthumous award is given to the Master Rapper for promoting nationalism through his songs.

“The medal recognizes the nationalism and love of country that is there in all his performances,” Press Secretary Cerge Remonde told ABS-CBN News as reported on their site where I saw this latest update on Francis M.

Indeed, his songs has awakened the spirit of nationalism in today’s youth. Songs like “Mga Kababayan” “Ito Ang Gusto Ko” and “Man from Manila” are just some nationalistic songs which became the national anthem of a lot of young people then… and in the generations to come.

If you noticed, I never used the word ‘late’ in reference to The Man, because I believe… his legacy is just starting…
