The Struggling Blogger

While still thinking of what to write, I nonchalantly checked on the page rank of my blogs. ‘Was more frustrated than delighted because none of my blogs improved their ranking and some were even demoted from PR1 and PR0 to n/a!

Trying not to be affected (because honestly, I really don’t know how improve them even if I want to), I remembered that I have some parked domains. Curiosity got the better of me so I checked on their rankings too.

I was surprised to see that all of my idle blogs got PR1!

No, I am not complaining. It just confuses me even more. While here I am working my a** off on my active blogs to improve their status or at least even get them “indexed,” these blogs who were really idle got a better page rank!

These past few days, things weren’t doing well… but they’re not really doing bad either. Actually, I didn’t care.

Honestly, I never thought I’d see the day that blogging would feel like a chore to me… but it did, and I wanted to quit.

At first, I thought it was just another case of writer’s block, or I was just finding some lame excuses to procrastinate, I thought I was just being lazy.

But I wasn’t.

Here I am again.

It seems like I’m getting too many of it lately… wanting to write and yet don’t know where to start.

Writer’s block?

It’s very convenient to call it that. When you can’t write, blame it on having another case of “writer’s block” and you’re already justified.

Yes, you read that right!

Not a house, not any structure… but it’s the man himself that blogging has built – a man’s self-esteem that is.

I guess you already have an idea of who is that man I’m referring to. Yes, of course, it’s me.

Prior to blogging, I was a jobless man, who after selling his house to finance his wife’s dialysis sessions, has nothing more to prove for his bachelor’s degree title and a professional license in public accounting.

Our country doesn’t take kindly to jobseekers aged 30 and above.

I was forty when my wife went home. At that age, my 11 years of experience in the bank is no longer an asset, the same with my accountancy license – they were liabilities. I was always overqualified, which I believed is their courteous way of saying “you’re overage.”

Throwing resumes left and right isn’t helping, I didn’t get replies.

After making a roll call of my blogs, many were surprised to see how much blogs I already have. Honestly, that includes me.

But I’m not through yet. I thought I mentioned that, because I still have some blogs that I plan to set up… which I would like to categorize as my ‘blogs in the pipeline’ because they are still in the incubating stage.

I know what you’re saying… “What?! More blogs?!”

But before you go bonkers on me, these are not all really mine. Some of these are blogs that I am preparing for my children once they got interested in blogging themselves. And since they are still in the planning stage, some may see daylight, some may not.
